On a mission to mould socially committed citizens, Year 1 A class organized a theme based assembly on road safety. The basic concept of the play is to induce traffic awareness in little minds. The children took the stage by storm as they enacted and spoke with confidence about rules to be followed on the road. The hall was full of applause when the children sang and danced on Road safety song.
Overall, it was a very interactive and informative assembly!! Keep up the good work year 1 A! By the age of five, children are ready to learn about safety rules. It’s vitally important to help shape children’s understanding and attitude towards road safety. On the occasion of road safety event which was conducted on 8th of October 2019, the Year 1 teachers emphasized on safe behavior on the road. Children actively engaged in creating various road signals and were also able to explain what they have created. They understood the importance of being a good role model to others while using the road.
Global Dignity Day is a worldwide celebration that highlights the concept that every human being has dignity and that dignity must be respected. This auspicious day was celebrated at the Winchester school on the 7th of October.
The day began with a discussion on the significance of global dignity and SEWA day and emphasis was laid on the fact that everyone is equal in this world and that everyone has equal rights. The activities conducted were very heart warming and pleasing. Children wrote thoughtful messages for the hard working people they see around them (in school) commenting on their chores and thanking them in their own special way! The little ones also cleaned and scrubbed their classroom tables in appreciation of the efforts done every day by the cleaners. They felt responsible and proud as they read stories confidently to the FS2 children who were delighted to listen to them. They enjoyed the activities and felt really proud of the work they did. Well done children …keep shining! Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions.
The Year 1 department celebrated World Teacher’s Day to honour teachers on Monday, October 6th 2019. The UNESCO established in 1994, on October 5 as Teachers’ Day. It’s a time to reflect on the teachers who were there to play several roles as a guardian, caretaker, instructor, facilitator, mentor, etc. It was a pleasure to read the sweet and thoughtful notes written by the children ( for their teachers) and that made this day even more special. The highlight of the event was the lovely thank you card which was made of recyclable material (promoting sustainability) for the different important teachers around the school. The inspiring messages were a treat for all and were well appreciated. Year 1 celebrated their first educational program on healthy eating on Sunday, 6th October 2019 .It was about healthy eating habits because it provides children with the nutrients they need to grow. Such a diet should contain three daily meals and two healthy snacks with foods of the following food groups: protein, carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, dairy foods, some fat and sugar. Children were asked questions about meals of the day and food groups. They all enthusiastically participated. The programme had interactive games for children to further embed their understanding of healthy eating. Children played pump up the giraffe game in teams which was a pleasure to watch. The team work in children was applaudable. They went back happy with lots of learning and goody bags in their hands.
It was an exciting and buzzing morning on the 1st of October for the year 1 children as they celebrated Science week event with passion and delight.
It was a pleasing sight to see the little ones who were looking radiant and picturesque, wearing creative costumes and jumping with joy as they were the teachers of the day. The classes were swarmed with eager parents who were amazed by the talented young teachers and their confidence. The theme of the day was Plant Power and all the activities were linked to it. The parents got a feel of how activities were conducted in class. Children were stationed at different zones (Drama and Expression, ICT, Art and Construction) where they diligently carried on their duties, explaining, and getting the tasks done by the parents and even solved their queries happily! The activities were carried out confidently by the young facilitators and the proud parents were over the moon and totally mesmerized by it all. Keep shining! The wonderful theatrical performance with delightful music and special effects brought to life on the 1st October 2019. The show had plenty of children’s participation and interactive fun.
